Consumer inflation data, Amazon stock split, Yellen testimony top week ahead

Strategic Funds co-managing director Marc Lopresti and CEO of Recruiting.com Evan Sohn unpack the state of the economy and its impact on hiring following strong May jobs reports.

Inflation at the consumer level will be a major economic focus this upcoming week along with another round of corporate earnings and what could be more volatility for U.S. stocks. 

The Nasdaq Composite, on Friday, fell 2.4%, the S&P 500 shed 1.6% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell over 1% or 349 points. The 10-Year Treasury yield rose to 2.955% as investors anticipate more rate hikes by the Federal Reserve.

Pence Claims He Was ‘Proud’ to Certify the Election, in Split From Trump

  • Mike Pence stated Thursday he was “proud” to do his constitutional duty and certify the election.
  • Virtually no idea is “more un-American than the concept that a single human being” can decide the president, he mentioned.
  • It was a split from Trump, who proceeds to convey discontent with Pence above the certification.

In a speech Thursday, previous Vice President Mike Pence broke from President Donald Trump by expressing he did his constitutional duty when he led the certification of the election effects.

At the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, Pence defended his actions on January 6, the day a professional-Trump mob breached the Capitol and compelled lawmakers to evacuate. Some customers of the mob considered the vice president could end the certification, as Trump experienced claimed, and were being chanting: “Hang Mike Pence.”
