SMALL BUSINESSES IN WASHINGTON MAY NOW APPLY FOR $200,000 IN RELIEF GRANTS AVAILABLE FROM THE “READY FOR BUSINESS FUND”

The Ready for Business Fund formed by GSBA – Washington’s LGBTQ+ and allied chamber of commerce – and Comcast is now accepting applications from small businesses throughout Washington seeking financial assistance. Small businesses owners may apply starting today, June 13 through June 26, 2022, at theGSBA.org/ready-for-business. Comcast RISE to Award $1 Million in Grants to Small Businesses Owned by Women and People of Color in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck

Application process for Comcast RISE Investment Fund grants open to eligible small businesses June 1-14

DETROIT – May 12, 2022 – Comcast today announced it will award $1 million in grants to 100 Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck small businesses owned by women and people of color, including Black, Indigenous, Hispanic, and Asian American owners, among others. Detroit was one of five cities, including Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Twin Cities, selected for the program. Comcast will award a $10,000 grant to 100 local businesses from the Comcast RISE Investment Fund, for a total of $5 million across 500 businesses. This brings the amount awarded to $16 million to date.

The application process will open to qualifying businesses June 1-14, and prospective owners must have their businesses located in the geographic boundaries of Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck.

Comcast RISE Investment Fund Provides $16 Million in Grants to Support Small Businesses Hardest Hit By the COVID-19 Pandemic

Beginning on June 1, and through June 14, eligible businesses in Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and the Twin Cities can apply for a $10,000 grant at www.ComcastRISE.com. There’s more help on the horizon for small businesses in the Twin Cities that have been hit the hardest by the economic impact of COVID-19.

From June 1 through June 14, eligible minority- and women-owned businesses in Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott and Washington counties can apply for $10,000 grants as part of the Comcast RISE Investment Fund initiative. It’s an extension of Comcast RISE, which stands for representation, investment, strength and empowerment. The fund is for small firms that have been in business for three or more years with one to 25 employees.

Those are the closing words from the award-winning documentary, Maikaru. The title is the name of the man whose story of survival became a driving force that made him into who he is today.

“It’s been 34 years of me grinding and trying,” said Maikaru, who is part Native American and Japanese. “I am used to trying and trying and trying my hardest and with this recognition from a company like Comcast, it feels like a validation. It’s saying that ‘we see value in you.’”

In November, Maikaru’s Seattle-based media production company, Mainasty, became one of 100 small businesses in King and Pierce Counties
