Amazon Reveals Its Most Profitable Business

Amazon released its Q4 and full year earnings on Feb. 3. North American revenue was up 18.4% in 2021 versus 2020, which is only a slightly faster growth than the overall retail industry growth of 17.9%, as measured by the US Department of Commerce. Amazon’s growth rate is slowing by historical standards, it has previously never been below 20% since Amazon started reporting North American sales in 2014.

For the first time, Amazon broke out the revenue it collects from advertisers on its platform. Previously this revenue had been lumped into a category Amazon labeled “other.” In 2021 Amazon

Here’s why Amazon’s $30 billion advertising business is so effective

Industry trends, consumer shopping habits, and Amazon’s continued e-commerce dominance have helped turn the tech giant into an advertising behemoth.

The company’s ad business recently surpassed a $30 billion annual run rate in the third quarter. Wall Street expects advertising revenue to eclipse $10 billion for the holiday quarter when Amazon reports earnings Thursday afternoon. (Update: Amazon reported $9.7 billion for “advertising services,” a new section on its earnings release)

On top of that, the company must increasingly deal with rising wages and labor shortages.

Investors will be looking to see if Amazon can reverse its earnings decline and revive its revenue growth when the company reports earnings on Feb. 3, 2022 for Q4 FY 2021. Analysts expect earnings per share (EPS) to decline for the second

How A Highly-Ranked Amazon Store Transitioned From A Two-Man Business To Hiring Its First Employees

Sometimes as a one- or two-person business grows and has the opportunity to serve more customers, it makes sense to add traditional employees. In some cases, it’s more cost-effective than working with contractors. It might make sense to pay a talented graphic designer $150 an hour for a ten-hour project but if you need the same designer for forty hours a week for an indefinite period, you’ll probably be able to negotiate a discount in exchange for giving the designer the certainty of a steady income.

More important, if you’re going after big projects or orders or expanding your business, you need to know that you can deliver what you promised. Having staff can ensure that you do. “Going from solo entrepreneur to building a team around you and scaling is heavily dependent on the ability to hire more people and build out a sufficient team,” says Tal Masica, 32,
