Pence Claims He Was ‘Proud’ to Certify the Election, in Split From Trump

In a speech Thursday, previous Vice President Mike Pence broke from President Donald Trump by expressing he did his constitutional duty when he led the certification of the election effects.

At the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California, Pence defended his actions on January 6, the day a professional-Trump mob breached the Capitol and compelled lawmakers to evacuate. Some customers of the mob considered the vice president could end the certification, as Trump experienced claimed, and were being chanting: “Hang Mike Pence.”
